Step down.

Most of us live our lives standing on pedestals
Standing on pedestals, wearing headphones, listening to our own voices
And we wonder why no one sees us, why no one hears us
Look around...
Step down.

Holden, a man of my heart.

"Anyway, I keep picturing all these little kids playing some game in this big field of rye and all. Thousands of little kids, and nobody's around - nobody big, I mean - except me. And I'm standing on the edge of some crazy cliff. What I have to do, I have to catch everybody if they start to go over the cliff - I mean if they're running and they don't look where they're going I have to come out from somewhere and catch them. That's all I do all day. I'd just be the catcher in the rye and all. I know it's crazy, but that's the only thing I'd really like to be."

oh songs.

Those of you who know me, know I find most beauty in song. So in that respect, I would love to give homage to 5 of my favorite songs.

Ahh, I’m a melody girl… and please notice I said 5 of my favorite songs, not my five favorite songs. Syntax people, it matters… and so does consistency. Sorry I wrote “5” then “five” in the same sentence. Oh, the enigma of a melody-loving grammar whore.

My heart.

My friend Catherine Mangan writes me haikus on a regular basis. There is so much beauty in that, I could puke.

Paper Heart

I watched this movie today. Paper Heart, starring Charlyne Yi and Michael Cera. There was beauty in her laugh. It was annoying as hell, but felt so real.

For Real.

Someone recently told me I need to write more. I don't know why I always need that push.

Minutes, days, years, people, places always fly by so fast. How do we make ourselves pause and appreciate the beauty in it all? I take the risk in sounding cheesy when I say I find beauty in most things. One common characteristic in said things is genuineness. Real, simple, smack you in your face, make you think, beauty. Slow down. Notice. (I'm talking to myself here, not intending to preach).

Sometimes I feel like this city is going to eat me alive.
